In June, the TanenbaumCHAT community expressed a heartfelt thank you and farewell to Rhona Birenbaum, the school’s former Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director. Rhona joined TanenbaumCHAT in the 1990s during a pivotal time, skillfully navigating the school through the challenges and triumphs that presented themselves. Her expertise and foresight were truly a guiding light, providing the reassurance and stability the community needed to thrive.
Rhona’s peers and colleagues describe her as “an inexhaustible wellspring of spreadsheets, which she would produce on any issue” and “an asset of incalculable value with tremendous good cheer, energy, sound judgment and common sense.”
Beyond her role, Rhona seized opportunities within the school, mentoring countless individuals and fostering a culture of collaboration and support—not just as the CFO, but as a friend to her colleagues. Her contributions extended far beyond financial management; she played a fundamental role in shaping the community’s spirit and resilience. Rhona’s legacy will undoubtedly live on, as she has set a high standard for leadership and dedication within the TanenbaumCHAT community.
Thanks to Rhona’s tireless efforts, a solid foundation has been built to support future generations of students at TanenbaumCHAT. We wish her all the joy and fulfillment in this new chapter.
