Competition, Community, & Celebration

The 2025 Israel Becker Basketball Tournament brought together athletes from Canada, the USA, and Israel, alumni, and supporters in a celebration of basketball, community, and the legacy of Israel Becker ’88 z”l. In its 30th year, this year’s tournament proved to be one of the most exciting and memorable to date, with 13 teams competing fiercely on the court while creating lasting memories off it.

The Tournament began with a heartfelt opening ceremony in the Hennick Family Atrium, welcoming participants, coaches, and guests. Messages of unity, the importance of connection, and the need for a strong and vibrant community were deeply felt. After the ceremony, the competition began. Over the course of several days, schools competed with intensity and sportsmanship. The final matches saw both our TanenbaumCHAT Tigers teams battle it out with fierce opponents. In the end, the Leo Baeck boys and the TanenbaumCHAT girls emerged victorious, earning well-  deserved recognition for their incredible performances. Mazal Tov to both teams,  and a heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes who participated!

The Israel Becker Basketball Tournament  has truly become more than just a competition—it is a celebration of  legacy, friendship, and the power  of sport to unite people across  generations and across the globe.

Alumni 3×3 Tournament: A Highlight of the Week

In addition to the high school teams battling it out on the court, this year’s tournament saw the return of the second annual Alumni 3×3 Basketball Tournament. The alumni tournament was a chance for former students to reconnect, relive their glory days, and showcase their basketball skills. The excitement was felt as alumni of all ages took to the court, demonstrating the lasting impact of the Israel Becker Tournament on the TanenbaumCHAT community. For some, it was an opportunity to pass on the torch to the next generation of players, while for others, it was a chance to experience the camaraderie that the tournament has always been about.
