On January 25, 2024, we welcomed over 130 members of the TanenbaumCHAT community into our school for our inaugural Challah Bake. The theme of the evening was United We Rise, and the sold-out event brought a smile to everyone’s faces, as we shared in the joy of uniting as a community on Tu BiShvat.
Teacher Jody Berkel led the event, guiding participants in making the dough while explaining the spiritual significance of each ingredient, with everyone following their recipe card sponsored by Linda Saiet, Concierge Real Estate Service. We were also treated to a meaningful Dvar Torah from Grade 12 student Jaclyn Charlat; and teacher Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein led us in prayers over the Tu BiShvat spread that was sponsored by Linda Saiet and Howard Katz.
After giving our dough time to rise, we were led in a blessing over the challah by Dini Goldstein, followed by a helpful braiding demonstration by Admissions Coordinator Ellie Reinblatt. Afterwards, we got to everyone’s favourite part: creating a range of challah styles and designs! (Click here for video)
