We were heartbroken to share the devastating news that our beloved teacher, Rabbi Mordechai Enakar z”l, passed away on February 15, 2024 after a long illness.
Rabbi Enakar was not just a member of our faculty: he was a pillar of wisdom, kindness and inspiration in our community for more than 20 years. His dedication to teaching Torah and his unwavering commitment to our students’ spiritual and moral growth have left an indelible mark on our institution and on the countless lives he influenced.
The funeral took place in Israel, reflecting Rabbi Enakar’s deep connection to the land and its people.
On the day of the Shloshim, Rabbi Enakar’s students gathered together to make a siyum (completion of a section of the Mishna) on Pirkei Avot. Vice Principal Rabbi Eli Mandel quoted the Mishna which Rabbi Enakar so closely followed:
“Rabbi Elazar Ben Shamua said: Let the honour of your students be as dear to you as your own.” (Avot 4:15)
Rabbi Enakar is missed by his wife Debbie (Cantkier) Enakar ’91, five daughters, one son, two sons-in-law, a grandchild, and more than one thousand students whose hearts and souls are forever touched by his gift of teaching.
We find solace in the tremendous legacy that Rabbi Enakar leaves behind – one of education, faith and compassion that will continue to inspire and guide us.
